I loved Prompt v1 for years and just got a new iPad Pro so I purchased Prompt 2. I guess I just assumed that ed25519 key support was there, since its been around for a long time. Unfortunately Prompt2 does not recognize ed25519 private keys so its pretty much useless for me. Wish I wouldve know that before spending $15.
Supports SSH duo 2fac prompt.
So surprised by the fact that prompt 2 is so feature rich! At first, the asking price is a little bit higher than others in App Store, but then after reading into reviews and comparisons in the webs, I think the price is too low! And as a bonus, panic also related to campo santo if Firewatch! One of my favourite title of all time! So glad I bought prompt 2.. Keep up the amazing work!
This app does not crash, this is a very good point because most SSH client crashes ! It is clear, simple, keyboard is really good with shortcuts. Just 2 missing points : - ability to duplicate a server : I would like to add about 200 distinct servers where the only difference is just the last token of the IP address... Really annoying now. Or perhaps a feature in the Panic Sync web site ? - support of Mosh server over SSH given that Prompt 2 is a mobile client.
Simply a great and feature-rich SSH client.
Of all the SSH clients Ive used since 2009 (granted, Prompt 1 not being one of them), this already seems to be the most stable one, especially when it comes to key-based authentication. I have not experienced any crashes yet, and no confusion regarding the intended authentication method. As far as I can tell, the app does not support TCP/X11 forwarding and doesnt have built-in X11/VNC displays. Instead, it focuses exclusively on the interactive shell session. The only thing I dont like is the non-changeable default font with its tall characters and wide leading. Still, this is an absolute recommendation if youre looking for robust command-line work.
I really love this application, like I loved Prompt 1. Its fast, reliable and the Touch ID locking features is very convenient. The only thing Im missing is a way to change the purple color in the App. OK, its the color of the icon but I would rather go for something blue-greyish – so if one could change the tint, that would be awesome!
Wonderful SSH app. However, please allow me to change the text colour.
Update to 5 stars: In thank to an awesome twitterteam by Panic, in now know that i have to double-tab. Now I really love Prompt 2, thx! ____________________________ I just upgraded from Prompt 1, because pasting text was a bit bugy there. But in Prompt 2 it seems to be not possible to paste same text in e.g. nano. Update please! It was too expensive without this feature.
Prompt is an really awesome SSH Client, it comes with all the things you need. Anyways some essential things are still missing: - Proxy Support for the poor ones that need a proxy to access the Internet. - a more fine grained font size adjustment, I dont know who at Panic thought that this 3px font size is a valid value for small and 60px for medium, it just sucks. Coda solves that problem way better.
If there is anything better than this it probably looks the same. I can not tell how great this is. well worth the update price. TouchID to my servers!!!! priceless. thank you
The last update fixed a display bug i found very annoying, this software is now absolutely fantastic.
Professionelles SSH gesucht? Hier habt ihr es.
Prompt is the best ssh client for iOS!! Keep on the great work
The latest update (2.1.1) fixes the man-in-the-middle security issue reported reported in january. The current implementation isn’t as comfortable as e.g. OpenSSH as the fingerprints are only stored for each saved session seperately and aren’t stored globally (known_hosts file). However as the main security problem is solved I am rising from 1 to 4 stars. The app is really nicely done and the terminal emulation works very well! Panic just needs to fix the MITM issue in Transmit, too.
Fast perfekt.
Generally great design which most other ssh or shell apps are not. Key import. Clean way to list your servers. Readable and scrollable. What really is a pain though are the special character buttons ... you can define enough, but have some no one needs you can not get rid of and for those you need, you need to swipe yourself to death, accidentally hitting other special keys while swiping. Cut and Paste on the iPad mini works 50% with luck the other 50% it does something (not sure what). So do not get me wrong. The app is great if you need to connect to a bunch of servers and check something once ina while. But if you really want to write a bash script on a server online with this thing ... you will get frustrated.
It is a good product, but it takes way too long to establish a connection to the server. Other than that it works as expected.
I had to tweak around quite a bite to get my terminal back to what it used to look like and the tab thing is so friggin large it takes three lines of text away from my terminal. An option to minimize or not use the tabs would be nice. Or only display them when one is fiddling around at the upper area of the screen.
